House No. 16 was designed and executed on four floors, adjoining Chaharbagh Street in Isfahan. The quality of the spaces, focus on connections between interior and exterior spaces, and hierarchy of private, secluded, and public spaces were the main requirements of the client, forming the initial concept using the simple and authentic design of Iranian houses.

As the spaces began to take shape, the overall building volume was designed to maintain the main design concept while each unit also displayed the different lifestyles of its occupants. The project was achieved by employing integrated and repetitive functional boxes. The character of each floor and its landscape variety was abstracted by employing a variety of box forms, dimensions, and layouts. The flow of the boxes created a gentle play of shadows on the facade.

The use of simple, unimposing bricks to complement the contrast and instill the feeling of “home” was pivotal. The garden was designed as a shared season between the interior and exterior spaces of the house for the sociability and tranquility of its occupants. To increase this quality by twofold, the entrance to the building was set back with a spin to create visual privacy for the occupants.
